Ebenezer Poultry Training Facility Expansion Opens New Opportunities for Students in Mozambique

The IEF is delighted to celebrate the completion of the expanded Ebenezer Poultry Training Facility in Mozambique in March 2026, marking an important milestone in our ongoing work to support agricultural education, sustainable egg production and improved nutrition.

Developed in collaboration with Ebenezer Africa and a network of dedicated supporters, the facility has been designed to provide students with practical, hands-on experience in modern poultry production while equipping them with the skills and confidence needed to build sustainable livelihoods through agriculture.

The expansion includes two mid-sized and two smaller training barns, creating a dynamic learning environment where students can gain real-world experience in poultry management, egg production, biosecurity and farm operations. The first mid-sized layer house is now home to 2,016 pullets, providing valuable opportunities for practical learning alongside classroom-based agricultural education.

The facility combines industry-leading expertise and technology, including layer housing equipment supplied by Big Dutchman AG, HATO lighting and solar system installed by students from Dordt University.

Beyond technical training, the facility aims to foster entrepreneurial thinking and enterprise development, helping students understand how sustainable poultry production can strengthen livelihoods, support local food systems and improve access to nutritious food within their communities.

This milestone has been made possible through the commitment and generosity of a wide network of organisations and individuals, including Versova Community Foundation, Heritage Poultry Management Services, Bethel Christian Reformed Church, Keith Heeringa Construction, Sam Kaufman, P.E., Big Dutchman AG, HATO Agricultural Lighting, Hendrix Genetics and New Horizons Mozambique Lda.

The IEF is proud to support initiatives that create lasting opportunities through education, enterprise development and sustainable egg production. As the facility begins welcoming students and expanding its training activities, it will play an important role in developing the next generation of agricultural leaders, strengthening local egg production and improving access to nutrition across Mozambique and beyond.
